  1. Mother’s Day: Next Sunday (5/8) the church will have a joint worship service at 10:30am in the main sanctuary to celebrate Mother’s Day. Lunch boxes will be served. After the service (12:30pm), we invite all the church families to take pictures with the mothers in the photo booths set in the courtyard. The picture will be printed on a mug cup and sent to every mother as a gift afterwards
  2. Children’s Congregation:
    1) Now recruiting one Sunday school teacher for 2nd and 3rd grade class for Summer quarter (Jun-Aug).
    2) Hiring child caregivers for Friday, Saturday evenings, and Sunday morning as a paid job. Please contact Children’s Di-rector Ruth (ext.16) for details.
    3) On 5/8 Mother’s Day, there will be photo booth set up in the courtyard from 12:30-1:30pm. Children and parents are invited to come and take pictures.
  3. Student Ministries:
    1) In order to cast out visions of HarvestLA student ministry and have mutual understandings and shared expectations, we would like to invite parents to come and join us for a meaningful meeting on 5/15 (Sun) from 1:00-2:30pm at English Chapel. Please mark your calendar and attend the meeting.
    2) We are also planning a leadership conference for all our students on 6/11 (Sat) from 10am to 3pm with lunch provided. Our church is called to raise leaders and make disciples. We would love to see the younger generation getting more involved in various aspects of our church ministries. More details to come so please stay tuned.
  4. Mission Department: Now recruiting short-term (7/22-8/1) mission team to South-eastern European country Serbia to host Children’s VBS. Please contact Mission Pas-tor Scott (ext.12) for registration.
  5. Charity Road Run Fundraising Event: World Vision will host the Global 6K for Water charity road run fundraiser for countries that lack clean water sources. It will be held at Rosemead Park at 9:00 am on 5/21 (Sat). The church will participate under the name of the EFCLA team with team leader Pastor Johnson Hsieh and the goal is to raise $2,000. Currently raised $2,395. Registration fee per person is $50 (including T-shirt) and direct sponsorship is also possible without running. Please register at global6k.worldvision.org/team/efcla.
  6. Recruitment: The church has an urgent need to hire a facility manager to be responsible for our church campus. If you are interested, please contact Lydia Wang (Huil-ing@efcla.org). Brothers and sisters are welcome to recommend good candidates and keep this in your prayers. Thank you.
  7. Hospitality: We now need more church families to join the welcome team to greet and serve new friends. Please contact Chi or Charlene if you can serve as ushers. Thank you!

Upcoming: Holy Communion (Today)

Prayer Requests

Pray for Our Church (EFCLA)

  • Pray for Happiness Group.  Pray that the Holy Spirit would work in the hearts of the ten plus BESTs, so that the BESTs would open their hearts to accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
  • Pray for Missionaries.  Pray for those missionaries sponsored by our church.  Pray that the Lord would keep them safe, and the Lord would empower them to preach the gospel boldly to the local people.
  • Pray for the Sick.  Pray for those who are sick or infected.  Pray that the Lord would heal them and restore their health.

Pray for the world

  • Pray for Global 6K.  Up to date, there are twenty people signing up for Global 6k, and nearly $2,400 raised. Pray that by May 21, the number of people signing up for this campaign would double, and the fund raised would double as well.
  • Pray for Libya.  Out of the 34,600 Christians in Libya, only around 150 believers are local believers; the rest are migrant workers. Because Libya has no central government, there is no legal protection for Christians, which makes them even more vulnerable to direct persecutions are condoned by Muslim extremist groups. Pray for God to strengthen and encourage His people and for the gospel to spread among the Libyans. Pray also for stability through a good government.
