Sermon Notes

Title: The Eye of Heaven

Passage: John 5:19 “Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can only do what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.”

Announcements

  1. Announcement: We will be distributing Mother’s Day gift photo mugs and Father’s Day gifts in the courtyard after service on 6/26. Please stop by to pick them up.
  2. Meeting: There will be a church council meeting in the English chapel today at 1pm. Pastors, elders, and deacons please reserve time to attend. Following the meeting, the board meeting will be held, pastors and elders please attend.
  3. Father’s Day Sunday (6/19): HarvestLA will hold an outdoor service at 10:30am with potluck and BBQ for lunch. THERE WILL NOT be on site service so please meet at Live Oak Park, Temple City. We will have sports fun and a softball tournament in the afternoon. Please invite your family and friends to come and join us!
  4. Glocal Outreach Department: Today during English service there will be a VBS and El Cajon mission sent out to bless the brother and sisters who are part of the team.
  5. Children’s Congregation: 1) Starting 6/13~17 from 6:00~8:40pm CC will host VBS on the 2nd floor of CC Building. Children of 4 yrs old to 6th graders are welcomed. Please contact Children’s Director Ruth (ext.16) for more details. 2) Hiring child caregivers for Friday, Saturday evenings, and Sunday morning as a paid job. 
  6. Hospitality: We now need more church families to join the welcome team to greet and serve new friends. Please contact Chi or Charlene if you can serve as ushers. Thank you!

Prayer Requests

Pray for Our Church (EFCLA)

  • Pray for Baptism. Pray for those (four from C.C. and one from Harvest) who are receiving their baptismal class to have a clear idea about the Christian faith before they receive their baptism. Pray that the Lord would strengthen Sister Huanhuan Jin’s faith, who received baptism on 06/12. Pray for the Happiness Group outreach ministry.
  • Pray for VBS. Pray for our VBS (June 13-17). Pray that all the fifty some students would know Jesus. Also, pray that the Spirit would fill the teachers, teacher’s aids, and staff when serving the students.
  • Pray for the US. The massive shooting incidents in the US are rampant, many innocent people lost their lives. Pray that the federal and state legislative institutes would pass bills to prohibit people from owning assault weapons. Pray that the Lord would cease violence and killing in the US.
  • Pray for the Sick. Pray for those who are sick. Pray that the Lord would heal them and restore their health.

Pray for the world

  • Pray for Pakistan. Pakistan is a Muslim nation of more than 212 million inhabitants, only 19 percent are Christians. Most live in Punjab and Sindh provinces, where they face persecution in many forms. It is common for Christian girls to be kidnapped and forced to marry Muslim men. Pray that the kidnapped girls find healing in God. Pray also for the church not to give in to despair but to be emboldened to continue spreading the gospel.
