Sermon Notes

Title: Fit for God

Passage: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Announcements

  1. Fellowship Department: The church will be providing lunch boxes every 2nd and 4th Sunday starting August. We will be arranging fellowships to help with serving lunch, preparing hot tea and water, setting up chairs and tables, and also cleaning up. For details please contact Elder Alfred Liu or Admin Ryan Wang.
  2. Courtyard Renovation: We have now raised $11,664.52 for this project. Please continue to pray for this project and support financially with the memo: Building Fund.
  3. Joint Mission Convention 2022 “Passion for the Impossible: Friday August 12- Saturday August 13, 2022. This convention will be held at our church, Evangelical Formosan Church of Los Angeles. Featuring: “The Hudson Taylor Movie Project” “Life Stories of Hudson Taylor” and “Passion for the Impossible.” The event will be held in English with Mandarin Translation. This will also be a Hybrid event.
  4. Co-Workers Retreat: This will be held on August 20, 9:30am-6pm, please fill out the form with the link provided. https://tinyurl.com/CW-Retreat-Registration. Lunch and a nice Dinner will be provided.
  5. Children’s Congregation:
    1) Parents can now register for the 2022-23 school year with children grades 5 and below through EFCLA.org starting 8/1.
    2) Camping on the 2nd floor of CM 8/12-13 (Fri evening to Sat morning) for students and their parents that are going into 6th grade, please register with Director Ruth.
    3) 8/21 Sunday afternoon 12:45-2:30pm there will be a teacher and teaching assistant training session for the fall semester (Sep-Nov) at CM 2nd floor.
    4) On 8/28 (Sun) 9am, all of CM will go to California Science Center for a field trip. For details, please contact Ruth (x16), Director of Children.
  6. Agape Montessori School: There is a job opening for an Assistant Teacher position starting in July. Work Hours: Monday-Friday 9AM-3PM. Starting at $16 /hour. Requirement: 12 units in Early Childhood Education and a love for children and Jesus. Contact info: Ms.Reni@Agape-Montessori.org.

Prayer Requests

Pray for Our Church (EFCLA)

  • Pray for Mission Convention: We will hold the S. Cal. Joint Mission Convention at our church venue from Aug 12 to 13. Pray that the Lord would use His servant, Dr. Patrick Fong, to arouse a movement for mission among the Asian American churches.
  • Pray for the co-workers retreat: The church will hold a co-workers retreat on 8/20. Please pray for the preparation of the retreat. May God allow us to use this retreat to inspire every co-worker who is faithful to serve and regain strength.  Let the spiritual life be abundant and continue to serve before the Lord.
  • Pray for the music crusade: Pray for the “Post-pandemic Apocalypse” music crusade held in our church by the Chinese Christian Herald Crusades on September 10. Pray that the preparations for the event go well, the venue, the co-workers, the worship team, and the speakers. Also pray that this event will arouse the zeal of the churches in evangelism.
  • Pray for the sick. Pray for those who are sick. Pray that the Lord would heal them and restore their health.

Pray for the world

  • Pray for Iran: Iran is a religious dictatorship, the state religion is Shia Islam, and it is expressly forbidden to preach the gospel to Muslims. If you convert to Christianity, you will even be sentenced to death; The underground churches are still rising rapidly. About 99% of Iran’s population is the target of evangelism. May the Lord spread the gospel and take root in the whole of Iran.
