Title: When Evil Comes

Passage: Obadiah 1:15 & Romans 12:17-21

Announcements

  • Devotional Material: August 2025’s Living Life is now available for pickup at the church office.
  • Co-worker’s Training 2025: Will be held on Saturday, 8/16 from 9:30AM to 3:00PM in the fellowship hall. Lunch will be provided.
  • EFCLA Celebrates 55th Anniversary: On Sunday, 8/17 at 1:30PM in the fellowship hall, there will be a commemorative tile painting activity. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the production team. Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.  
  • Children’s Ministry: 
    1) All parents, please fill out the new school year (2025-2026) registration form on the church website: https://efcla.org/CCReg. In addition if you are interested in joining the children choir, please indicate on the form and pay $60 to EFCLA. 
    2) On Sunday, 8/17 from 1:00–2:30PM there will be a teacher and assistant training for the Fall Quarter (September–November) in the 2nd Floor Worship Classroom. 
    3) 8/22–23 (Friday–Saturday): 5th and 6th grade students will have an overnight outdoor camp at Santa Fe Dam. For details, please contact Lisa Wang at 626-450-7676 x10. 
    4) 8/24 (Sunday) from 1:00–2:00PM: There will be a 5th and 6th grade parent meeting in Room 115A. All parents are encouraged to attend. English Ministry youth advisers will also be present. 
    5)8/30 Sat, CC annual field trip to CA Science Center from 9am – 1pm. Please sign up with Ruth.
  • Glocal Department Announcement: A short-term mission sharing session from Taiwan and Japan teams will be held on Saturday, September 6, at 9:30 AM in the main sanctuary. Please register through the church office. All brothers and sisters are warmly invited to attend.
  • Church Announcement: Sunday lunch box is $5 each (Annual: $240). Please consider supporting the lunch ministry through prayer and offering through Zelle, check, or cash (using the church offering envelope); note “lunch” on your donation.

Prayer Requests

PRAY FOR OUR CHURCH (EFCLA)

  • Pray for the Sick. Pray that the Lord would heal those who are sick and re-store their health and strength. Also, please pray for Pastor Benson’s daughter, Danielle. A brain scan in Taiwan revealed a neurofibroma, and she will need to undergo surgery on 8/12. Please intercede for her to the Lord for a smooth scheduling of the surgery, and for a full recovery after-ward.
  • Pray for the August Family Month Joint Sunday school. In August, EFCLA and LES are co-hosting Family Month Sunday School. The themes for 8/17 and 8/24 are “Healthy relationship in marriage” and “Good Parenting prin-ciple”. 8/31 is “How to be a Godly Brother?” Please pray for brothers and sisters to participate enthusiastically and to humbly learn how to build their families using biblical principles and wisdom, making their families a testimony of mutual love and unity, glorifying the Lord’s name.
  • Pray for the 8/16 Co-Worker Training. On August 16th, EFCLA will hold a co-worker training meeting. Pastors, elders, deacons, counselors, chairper-sons, small group leaders, and co-workers will participate. The workshop will once again remind us through God’s Word that serving God is a glorious calling. It aims to help everyone learn and improve their ability to shepherd and care for small groups. Please pray for God to grant a spirit of humility and unity.
  • Pray for the nomination of the elders and deacons of the church. The church will nominate a new batch of elders and deacons at the congregational meeting in October. Pray that the Holy Spirit can inspire and guide new elders and deacons to participate in the service of the church. According to the description in Chapter 6 of Acts: “Have great faith and be filled with the Holy Spirit”. The elders and deacons’ team can work well with the staff in the pastor’s office.

PRAY FOR THE WORLD

  • Pray for Ecuador. Due to the threats and violence caused by criminal groups, thousands of people in Ecuador have been forcibly displaced. The country faces an extremely high murder rate. Many children are being forced to join criminal organizations, while women are at high risk of sexual violence and abuse. These issues have had a profound impact on vulnerable groups. Please pray for the people of Ecuador, asking the Lord to guide the local government to take effective action to eliminate all forms of evil and to ensure the safety and protection of its citizens..
