Title: What Money Can’t Buy
Passage: Proverb 2:1-6
1 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding
3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Announcements
- Church Council (Today): It will be held in-person at 1:15pm in the English Chapel. Pastors, elders, and deacons shall attend the meeting.
- Construction: Praise the Lord! The renovated bathrooms in the main sanctuary and English chapel are available for use. We are now short of nearly $10,000 for the total expense. Please continue to pray and support this project with “Building” in the memo.
- Free Calendar: Care department has printed the calendars for the year 2022 as a gift to our church family. Please pick up one for each household after Christmas Sunday joint worship service on 12/19.
- Christmas Celebration: 1) Christmas Sunday is 12/19 for joint worship service at 10am. 2) Following the service, from 12pm, we will have a Christmas Mini Carnival in the parking lot. We invite fellowships to host booths for food or games. Please sign up with the church office (626-450-7676) for the kind of booth you will host. 3) 12/24 (Fri) there will be a candlelight service at 7pm in the main sanctuary. Dinner will be served in the fellowship hall at 6pm. Please invite your family and friends to come and celebrate Jesus’ birth.
- Recruitment: Pastoral office is now recruiting student ministry assistants for a paid position. The job posting is available on tinyurl.com/HLASMA
- Winter Retreat 2021: We are still taking late registrations. Registration form: https://tinyurl.com/HLA2021WR. For those who already signed up, please bring the check to our registrar Jimmy or Zelle to church account with a memo “Winter Retreat”.

Prayer Requests
Pray for Our Church (EFCLA)
- Pray for Disciple Training. The new disciple training for new believers and Happiness Group leaders will start on the first Sunday of December. Pray for the teachers. Pray that all the new believers and group leaders would join their training courses.
- Pray for Christmas Celebration. Pray for preparing the Christmas Joint Service and its following Mini Carnival. Pray that there would be many newcomers to these two events.
- Pray for the Sick. Pray for those who are sick. Pray that the Lord would heal them and restore their health.
Pray for the world
- Pray for COVID-19. The newest COVID variant, Omicron, has caused global alarm because it is highly contagious. Pray that Omicron would not cause another surge, and Omicron is even less lethal than the Delta variant.
- Pray for India. In India, thousands of pastors, evangelists, gospel workers, and bishops have died from COVID-19. This includes a seminary president, professors, missionaries, pastors, and their spouses. Such deaths are causing a leadership vacuum in the church, considering the time and effort it takes to equip new leaders. Pray that God will comfort and help the believers in India and that the church will continue to be salt and light amid this situation.
