Title: Reflections from Israel

Passage: Luke 10:38-42

38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Prayer Requests

Pray for Our Church (EFCLA)

  • Pray for Courtyard Renovation. We will renovate the north-side of our church courtyard starting in mid-August. The vision for the renovation is so that we can use that space for fellowship and community building. Pray that the construction and the fundraising for this project would be a smooth process.
  • Pray for the Sick. Pray for those who are sick. Pray that the Lord would heal them and restore their health.
  • Pray for the co-workers retreat: The church will hold a co-workers retreat on 8/20. Please pray for the preparation of the retreat. May God allow us to use this retreat to inspire every co-worker who is faithful to serve and regain strength. Let the spiritual life be abundant and continue to serve before the Lord.

Pray for the world

  • Pray for the US. Mass shootings in the US has been on the rise these past few years. There were over 300 mass shooting cases earlier this year 2022. Let’s pray that the congress would eventually pass a bill prohibiting people from carrying any assault weapons in public areas. Also, pray that the Lord would divert people’s hearts to seek Him for help instead of violence.
  • Pray for Zambia. In Southern Africa, Zambia’s economy largely depends on the copper mining industries, but unemployment remains prevalent; life in rural areas are heavily in debt and poverty; more than one million orphans have lost their parents to AIDS. Let’s pray that the Lord will liberate Zambia from poverty and disease and transform it into a nation of abundance.
